I am an emerging artist in the field of fine art photography living in Holland, Michigan. My work is typically bold, colorful and contemporary, often with a minimal presentation. I enjoy capturing light and detail seen only through the eye of the lens and take advantage of opportunities as they present themselves. I don't have a mission or a message. I love to take pictures and edit them in an artistic way.

"...I don’t have a philosophy. I have a camera. I look into the camera and take pictures. My photographs are the tiniest part of what I see that could be photographed. They are fragments of endless possibilities...." - Saul Leiter

Born in 1957, I have lived most of my life while raising my family in West Michigan. In 2015, I began to pursue my lifelong interest in photography with the goal to take my skills to the next level. It started with actually reading and learning from the user manual of my Canon Rebel XT, the first digital SLR that Canon produced, and a free editing software program. One upgrade later to my camera and software, along with the vast body of knowledge on the Internet and a love for the creative process that is fine art photography, I have, indeed, taken my photography to the next level.

And, yet, there is still so much to learn.

As I now make the leap to print, I am reminded that it's best not to take myself too seriously. May the love of the art, and the process of creating it, never be overshadowed by the business of enterprise. My work will not appeal to every one that sees it and yet, one may be surprised. I know that as I broaden my horizons in the infinite world of art, I am amazed, astounded and profoundly appreciative of the endless variety of creativity that artists possess. In the end, art is subjective, personal and always in the eye of the beholder.

I am a co-op member of Flat River Gallery and Framing LLC in Lowell, MI. I am also a member of the Lakeshore Visual Arts Collective.
