I am a self taught fine art and digital media photographer living in Holland, Michigan. In 2015, after decades of taking pictures and not really knowing what I was doing, I took to hand the task of learning how to operate the camera and broke out the owner's manual. I fell in love with the fine art and science of photography and digital media and have been on a learning curve ever since.
My work is about taking an ordinary thing and making an extraordinary image. I don't have a mission or a message. I take pictures and edit them in an artistic way. My work tends to be bold and colorful, often with a minimal presentation. And, sometimes not. Sometimes, I work in a studio setting and then there is the pure happenstance of being in the right place at the right time. The goal is to capture a good raw photograph, defined by light and detail, and then use the wonders of software to create a unique and beautiful image.
"...I don’t have a philosophy. I have a camera. I look into the camera and take pictures. My photographs are the tiniest part of what I see that could be photographed. They are fragments of endless possibilities...." - Saul Leiter
I have been an artist "on the wall" since January of 2018. It has been a remarkable journey and I don't believe there is a destination. My joy is the the learning curve itself. The reward is creating a unique and beautiful image. The icing on the cake is bringing the image to the tangible reality of printed and framed artwork. On the wall.
Fine Art Prints are printed on Somerset Velvet Fine Art Paper using Canon Archival Inks. This combination produces exceptional color, contrast and detail. See the page for each image for more information.
